Finally I have given birth on 31/12/2011. (39 weeks) Yes, my girl is a New Year Eve baby.
I thank God for His faithfulness and covering during my 9 months of pregnancy. Everything went on smoothly. The baby was induced on 30/12/2011 12am as I was already dilating 3 cm. Gynae suggested that I should check in hospital on 31/12/2011 as this is my 3rd baby and labour could be faster than expected.
That is what I thought too.
I took 8 hours of labour for both of my boys and I thought it would be the same or even shorter for my girl. Oh, how I was wrong!
Zaneta took me 17 hours of labour. yes, no joke...17 hours!
I went into the labour ward without any epi as I wanted natural delivery, just the same like I had my 2 boys. However, after 8 hours of waiting, my cervix was still dilate at 3 cm. Gynae was wondering what was causing the delay...I continued to wait for another 4 hours before Gynae came in to check on me again. This time, Cervix dilated 5 cm. He then proceed to break my water bag to speed up the contraction. I could not explain the pain but it was painful.
Dr Kee suggested that I should opt for epi since he predicted I had at least another 5 hours to go before I dilate 10 cm. Finally, I agree...
Dr. C C Loo came to give me the epi...and oh, how I was like in heaven after the jab. The pain was totally gone. I felt numb on both legs and no longer felt the contraction. It was then I was able to rest and fell asleep for few hours.
At about 5 pm, I could feel contraction on my right side of tummy. I called for the nurse as I felt I have an urge to push...Dr Kee came in just in time to check and indeed, the baby head has crowned. I was 10 cm dilated.
Dr Kee did a check and informed us that the baby head was not in the correct position. Hence, causing the delay in dilating. He suggested that I tried pushing as there might be a chance that she will turned her head to the right position.
After much encouragement from Dr. Kee, hubby and nurse, I pushed during each contraction and by the 2nd, the baby turned her head position correctly and out she came from my womb on my 3rd contraction. Thank God!
The moment I saw my darling, tears flowed out from my eyes. it was a beautiful moment to be able to held my child and amazed how God bring forth a life from my tiny womb.
I am really grateful to God for this child and all that He has done to protect me and my baby.
"Lord, I thank you for everything. All praises, honour and glory to you and you alone! Amen!"
